Note: This is a paper produced under the Internship Program of the Center for Intramuros Studies.

Project Overview

The revitalization of Basco Street will be an innovation yet a conservative method to further enhance and uplift the glorious pride of the walled city, Intramuros. The group has taken the initiative to transform underutilized spaces and streets in Intramuros into a people-centric community wherein tourists and residents are encouraged to travel to their destinations by foot and that establishments will become more accessible to pedestrians.

The implementation of public spaces and amenities along Basco street is an initiative to promote walkability and pedestrianization within the walled city. It aims to become a tourist attraction and promote better spaces for the public. This redevelopment plan realizes the mission of Intramuros Administration as a future-proof livable city.

Cai Bingying

I am currently a fifth-year student at the University of Santo Tomas college of architecture. I like trying new things and searching new knowlege.

Averie Rhone A. Pavon

I am a 5th year architecture student of the University of Santo Tomas and I’m currently the Vice President of my block 5ar-4. In 5 to 10 years time, I envision to build my own business and firm. To God be the Glory!

Thomas Intal

I am currently an architecture student at the University of Santo Tomas. I love doing street photography around Manila during my spare time.
