Michael Charleston “Xiao” Briones Chua teaches History at De La Salle University Manila. He is a BA and MA history graduate and Ph.D. Anthropology candidate in UP Diliman. He is co-author of the book Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo (Anvil, 2014) and Bayani Biographies: Andres Bonifacio (Kahel Press, 2019). He has also published various refereed articles in reputable academic journals in the country.
He was an original bottomliner in the Bottomline with Boy Abunda from 2009-2012. Historical consultant of History with Lourd (TV5), teleseryes Katipunan and Ilustrado (GMA 7). The creator of Xiao Time television segment at PTV4 (2012-2017) which is now a Abante Sunday column (since 2017). He also writes a Saturday column for the Manila Times (since 2018).
He is one of the most active historians on Philippine television and a docent at Intramuros bringing students and tourists since 2005.

About the Intramuros Learning Sessions
The Intramuros Learning Sessions (ILS) is the educational webinar series of the Intramuros Administration (IA). The IA is an attached national government agency under the Department of Tourism.
Topics are interdisciplinary and cover themes related to Intramuros and Manila studies, Philippine studies, as well as cultural heritage studies. Pursuant to IA’s charter, the ILS aims to contribute to the strengthening of the Filipino’s national identity and sense of belonging and pride.
