Manila – Intramuros, the heart of Manila’s heritage, is once again ready to inspire and captivate as it reopens two of its iconic landmarks: the Centro de Turismo Intramuros and the Museo de Intramuros.

The relaunching ceremony was led on Thursday, 21 November 2024, by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos. Joining the First Lady in the symbolic ringing of the bell that marked a new era of discovery, culture, and pride for the Walled City were Senate President Francis Escudero, Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Chairperson Victorino Manalo.

The Centro de Turismo Intramuros, now a vibrant hub for visitors, offers more than just tourist information. Its exhibits breathe new life into Intramuros’ rich stories, blending history with modern technology to create an immersive experience. Built on the former site of the San Ignacio Church—a masterpiece of Spanish-era architecture tragically destroyed in 1945— Centro de Turismo Intramuros stands as both a homage to the past and a promise for the future.

Next door, the Museo de Intramuros beckons with its refreshed galleries and a breathtaking collection of religious art and artifacts. Its redesign invites visitors to delve deeper into the cultural and spiritual roots of the Philippines, presenting these treasures in ways that are both meaningful and engaging.

Special preview days are open to the public on 22 and 24 November 2024, with the official reopening set for 26 November 2024. Both the Centro de Intramuros museum and the Museo de Intramuros will operate Tuesdays to Sundays, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, while the Centro’s visitor desk will be open daily starting 22 November 2024.

Access to the Centro de Turismo Intramuros’ ground-floor museum is free, while admission ticket for the Museo de Intramuros and the mezzanine-level exhibits of the Centro de Turismo Intramuros is priced at PhP 150.00 for regular and PhP 120.00 for discounted rate, inclusive of a guided tour. Tickets can be booked in advance via cdti.intramuros.gov.ph or Klook, with walk-ins also welcome subject to availability of slots.

With its reimagined spaces, Intramuros is ready to welcome a new generation of explorers. From stunning artifacts to cutting-edge displays, every visit promises a deeper connection to the artistry, faith, and resilience that define the Filipino identity.

Whether you’re rediscovering your heritage or uncovering the wonders of the Philippines for the first time, the Centro de Turismo Intramuros and the Museo de Intramuros offer an experience like no other—a journey into the soul of the Walled City.
