Manila – Intramuros, Asia’s leading tourist attraction, is set to captivate visitors once more with the reopening of its two iconic sites – Centro de Turismo Intramuros and Museo de Intramuros.
Centro de Turismo Intramuros is a state-of-the-art tourist center that will cater to tourist information needs. It also houses a museum that will provide visitors with a glimpse into the Walled City’s past, present, and future through its exhibits and multimedia displays.
It stands on the former site of San Ignacio Church, one of the original seven churches of Intramuros which was renowned for its architectural marvel until its tragic destruction during the Battle of Manila in 1945. Centro de Turismo Intramuros, an adaptive reuse project, was soft launched in June 2024 and underwent further improvement works.
The adjacent Museo de Intramuros has also undergone a significant renovation, with its collection of religious artifacts and art pieces now showcased in a more modern and engaging way.
First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco will lead the relaunching programme of the two cultural sites on 21 November 2024. The public will have the opportunity to visit for a two-day special preview on 22 and 24 November 2024.
Regular operations of the museum of Centro de Turismo Intramuros and Museo de Intramuros will start on 26 November 2024. Both museums will operate Tuesdays to Sundays, from 9AM to 6PM.
