400K PILGRIMS, TOURISTS VISIT INTRAMUROS FOR HOLY WEEK

After two years of restrictions and closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Intramuros resumed its Holy Week tradition with 393,480 visitors on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

A total of 383,593 pilgrims flocked to the Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church, as well as the chapels of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Mapua University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. 

On the other hand, 9,887 tourists visited Fort Santiago, Baluarte de San Diego, Casa Manila and other sites.

This year’s  Lenten observance was led by the Archdiocese of Manila and the Immaculate Conception Parish, with the active support of the Intramuros Administration, the City of Manila, the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Red Cross, and the Joint-Task Force NCR. 

Pursuant to IATF Alert  Level no. 1 regulations, face masks were required for all visitors.
