Intramuros Informal Settler Families (ISFs) are soon to form a community in their resettlement site.
Feb 1, 2023

The house construction for the informal settler families (ISF) living in Intramuros is now in full swing, as seen during the visit of the new Intramuros Administration (IA) Administrator Atty. Joan Padilla last January 31, 2023.

The first 100 housing units are almost 100% complete, while 150 units are currently being constructed to complete 470 houses for our ISFs. The relocation site is at Brgy. Lagundi, Morong, Rizal.

Atty. Padilla was accompanied by Mr. Philip Robert Flores, Vice President for Settlements Management Group, Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), including the project’s contractor, Dr. Ofelia Baque of the Baque Corporation, and their respective teams.

The IA, SHFC, and Baque teams inspected the houses and met with the officers from MERALCO to ensure the timely installation of electricity for the ISF beneficiaries of the program.

Moreover, as the project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of the year, the timeline and coordination with the local government of Morong, Rizal, were discussed for the smooth transfer of the ISFs from Intramuros to Morong, Rizal.

This SIMPLE program or Strategy for the Inclusive Mainstreaming of People’s Living Entitlements (SIMPLE) is part of the real property and consolidation and redevelopment strategy under the long-term plan for the redevelopment and revitalization of Intramuros.

The model house, with a lot size per housing unit of 41 square meters (with loft 42 sqm.), is the vision of the composite team of the contractor, Baque Corporation, the Social Housing and Finance Corporation (SHFC), and the Intramuros Administration. One row house has a small space for a pocket of green where a family can utilize as a garden. The ground floor has an ample space for a modest living room, dining area, and kitchen.

At the back is a possible utility area, either for laundry or drying of clothes. The loft can be maximized and divided up to two rooms that can fit one family with children.

The model unit serves as a standard that can inspire our soon-to-be relocated ISFs to design their house to maximize the space and purpose of each area. We look forward that the families that will be moving in to replicate this ideal layout which they can proudly say a house that is truly their own.

With the same vision in mind, the standard unit has the same measurement of 41 square meters (42 sqm. with loft) complete with tiles for the ground floor, loft, and the toilet. Rather than turning over a bare unit, the team ensure a livable space and for the family to move in with ease and comfort.

The standard unit is painted in the exterior and interior. Moreover, it will be ensured that there will be water and electricity for each unit. The ground floor has the same layout as the model unit. At the loft, the family will have a free hand if they wish to convert the upper floor into two rooms.

We hope that the beneficiaries will care, treasure, and develop their units for a lifetime. This is their property after all. We will be pleased to see additional facilities that they have integrated as they prosper and thrive in their new home.
