In celebration of its Golden Anniversary, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (University of the City of Manila), in partnership with the Intramuros Administration, organized yesterday at the Justo Alberto Auditorium, 14 September 2017, the second PARA LA MUSICA concert series, a free public jazz concert. Now on its second run, the concert series will run every second Thursday of the month until December 2017.
The concert yesterday featured the celebrated Archie Lacorte with the Brassmunkeys, starring Archie Lacorte, alto sax; Leo Emnil, tenor sax; Wowie Ansano, trumpet; Pards Tupaz, trombone; Jay Alviar, drums; Jemuel Victoriano, voice; Glenn Bondoc, bazz; and Tim Cada, guitar. The audience was serenaded by classic jazz pieces, such as St. Tomas by Sonny Rollis, Fly me to the Moon by Bart Howard, The Way You Look Tonight by Elton John, among others. The concert also featured the PLM Executive Chorale.
Succeeding dates of the concert series are as follows: October 12, November 9, and December 14, 2017, with venues for each yet to be announced.
