In celebration of World Teachers’ Day on October 5 , Museo ni Jose Fort Santiago will hold a lecture entitled “Maestro Rizal”. This lecture presents Rizal’s teaching methods, which he derived from the German “gymnasium” and “realschule” which prepares children for higher education through a variety of general education and vocational subjects. Further, the lecture delves into the criticisms of Rizal towards the education system implemented by the Spaniards in the Philippines. A short discussion about the present K-12 curriculum shall be conducted to further evaluate its efficiency in preparing senior high school students for higher education.

The activity aims to provide an understanding about Rizal’s teaching methods, influences and reproaches towards the Spanish educational system in the Philippines and provide a general analysis of the present K-12 curriculum as an efficient teaching method in preparation for higher education and in view of Rizal’s teaching methods.
