Intramuros Learning Sessions episode no. 45

Overview

Since its establishment in 2009, Escuela Taller de Filipinas Foundation, Inc. has embraced the advocacy of engaging more women in heritage conservation and the construction industry in general. As a training institution focused on built heritage, it has recruited and trained as many young women possible. The Foundation’s trainees are out-of-school youth( men and women) who have difficulties accessing formal education and jobs but now have found meaningful work, renewed dignity and pride as masons, carvers, painters and restorers in various conservation activities of Escuela Taller and others. Get to know more about these humble female heroes in heritage conservation who not only contribute to the preservation of our cultural heritage but also have successfully broken out of the prevailing gender identity and roles.
