The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) unveiled a new historical marker Pag-aaklas ng Rehimyento ng Tayabas led by its Chairperson Rene R. Escalante last January 19 at Fort Santiago, Intramuros to commemorate the revolt of the Tayabas regiment. Other officials who graced the event were Gina Batuhan, Chief of Historic Sites and Education Division and Alvid Alcid, Chief of Research, Publications, and Heraldry Division.

The marker was turned over to the Administrator of Intramuros Administration (IA), Atty. Guiller B. Asido represented by Ms. Merceditas C. De Sahagun, Chief of Finance and Administrative Division of IA. Also present were Mr. Ryan Palad of Alternatibong Tahanan ng mga Akda at Gawang Nasaliksik, Inc. (ATAGAN), and Executive Director Ludovico D. Badoy of NHCP who stand as witnesses during the signing of the certificate of transfer.

The revolt of the Tayabas regiment that happened within Intramuros is a welcome addition to the history of the Walled City. The event also honors the heroism of the member of the regiment for their patriotism, fight for freedom, and love for their country.
