In celebration of its Golden Anniversary, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (University of the City of Manila), in partnership with the Intramuros Administration, organized yesterday, 10 August 2017, at 5PM, the PARA LA MUSICA concert series, a free public vocal, instrumental and choral concert which will run every second Thursday of the month until December 2017.

The concert yesterday featured various pieces and artists, namely: Hawig-hawig, a variation from the theme Okaka by Francisco Buencamino, Sr., performed by Harold Galang (Piano); Sonate Allegro by Giuseppe Brescianello, performed by Armando ‘Tabo’ Direcho (guitar); Kung Nagsasayaw Kita by Tony Maiquez and arranged by Dick Zamora, performed by Santiago Yangco (flute) and Harold Galang (piano); Sa Kabukiran by Manuel Velez, performed by Mabel M. Amarao (Soprano), Santiago Yanco (flute), and Harold Galang (piano); So Sole Mio by Eduardo Di Capua, performed by Allan Jay Natividad (tenor) and Harold Galang (piano); When I Fall in Love and Minamahal, Sinasamba Kita by Victor Young and Tito Arevalo, performed by the PLM Chorale and Maribel Ararao (conductor); Ikaw and Loving You by George Canseco, performed by Kristelle Herrera (pop singer); Hating Gabi and Bato sa Buhangin by Antonio Molina and Ermani Cuenco, performed by  Santiago Yangco (flute ) and Harold Galang (piano); Katakataka by Suarez, performed by Santiago Yangco (flute); Mayon Fantasia de Concerto by Francisco Buencamino, performed by Harold Galang; Mutya ng Pasig by Nicanor Abelardo, performed by Mabel Ararao (soprano) and Harold Galang (piano); and Fill the World With Love by Leslie Bricusse, performed by the PLM Chorale and Mabel Ararao (conductor). Gracing the event were the Administrator of Intramuros, Atty. Guiller B. Asido, and the President of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Prof. Dr. Ma. Leonora V. de Jesus.

Succeeding dates of the concert series are as follows: September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14, 2017, with venues for each yet to be announced. The next Para La Musica concert edition will feature a jazz ensemble experience, with celebrated saxophonist Archie Lacorte.
