Intramuros celebrates the Feast of the Immaculate Conception with the Grand Marian Procession on December 4, Sunday, 4:00 p.m., starting in front of the Manila Cathedral.

Mounted by the Cofradia de la Inmaculada Concepcion, Inc. and the Intramuros Administration (IA) every first Sunday of December, the event is a revival of the tradition that originated in Intramuros on December 8, 1619.  Then a national celebration which ran for fifteen days, the event was launched at the Manila Cathedral.

Aside from the Nstra. Sra. de la Inmaculada Concepcion under the care of IA, over ninety images of the Blessed Virgin are expected, including the Nstra Sra. de los Dolores de Turumba from Pakil, Laguna, Nstra. Sra. de Visitacion de Piat from Cagayan, Virgen La Divina Pastora from Gapan, Nueva Ecija, Nstra. Sra. Santissimo Rosario de la Naval from Sto. Domingo Church and Nstra. Sra. de la Consolacion y Correa from San Agustin Church, Intramuros.

IA and the Cofradia have organized the annual festivity since 1980, with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) replicating the full-force military participation during the processions of old.  The event has drawn more and more visitors each year because of the unique combination of spirituality and pageantry, solemnity and festivity. Comite de Festejos Chair is Conrado A. Escudero.  Hermanas Mayores are Nila Vibal Mata and Czarina Ong Camus.

A. Soriano Avenue (Aduana), and Riverside Drive will be closed to vehicles from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Dec. 4.  Magallanes Drive will be closed starting 5:00 p.m. on December 3 until 10:00 p.m. on Dec. 4.  Motorists are advised to take P. Burgos and Bonifacio Drive as alternate routes.
